It’s officially holiday season! With Thanksgiving fast approaching, here are my tips for staying on track with your goals on the day of the year known for feasting:

1. Plan ahead.
Most likely, you know what’s going to be on the table when you get to Aunt Mary’s house, right? So PLAN ahead. Our recommendation is to choose the 1 or 2 foods that you ONLY get at Thanksgiving, and plan on “splurging” on those items. Forego foods like mac n’ cheese or grocery store dinner rolls and choose Grandma’s gravy instead. Make sure your plate is portioned properly, with vegetables consuming the majority of the plate. Choose one dessert.

2. Have your Shakeology® before you go.
Consume your shake within an hour of Thanksgiving dinner. Blend it and drink it on the way there, for example. Drinking something healthy and filling (and nutritionally satisfying) will curb your cravings for junk upon your arrival.

3. Remember why you celebrate.
Thanksgiving is about family and friends, not food. Stay mentally strong, and remember to enjoy the company first and foremost.

4. Drink lots of water.
Do not consume liquid calories. Simply drink water, and lots of it. Even drinking a full glass right before eating will help you feel full. Hydration during the holidays is KEY to staying on track with your fitness!

5. Go for a walk post-meal.
Even if it’s only 25 degrees. Even if you’d rather take a nap. Even if you feel like the weirdo of the family. You will feel amazing afterward! So, put that plate in the dishwasher and then go for a stroll. THEN you can enjoy your nap.

Ending the holiday feeling blessed, refreshed, and full of love is the goal. Stuffing yourself to the point of unbuttoning your pants is not the goal. It’s not hard to stay on track! Go into the day with this plan, stay committed, and treat yourself to a pat on the back when you’ve accomplished success.

Happy Thanksgiving!

xoxo
