You’ve caught me in a unique mood.

Today, I’m not putting up with any of your excuses. Today, I’m going Jillian Michaels on your ass.

Woah, that felt brash. But it also felt oh-so-good.

Today, I’m here to make a difference in your life. And to make a difference, sometimes you have to tick people off. My English teacher in high school could be a real pain. I hated his super specific requirements for papers and his ridiculously tough literature tests. But then when I went to college? English was my forte. Writing was something I felt good at doing. Literature became a passion rather than a burden. Those long nights spent learning from my mistakes turned worth it. Perhaps it was because I was pushed a little.

The magic happens just outside your comfort zone. If you want to create magic, you’re going to have to get uncomfortable.

You didn’t know that stumbling on this blog would be uncomfortable! Ugh, how frustrating, to feel uncomfortable when faced with reality! This is NOT what you signed up for when you subscribed to this blog.

Too bad.

You and I are clashing on this day because you need a swift kick. Like I said, you’ve caught me in a unique mood.

Ready for it? I mean, are you really ready? Can you handle what I’m ’bout to say? OK, here goes.

Just freaking do it.

Do what? Do it.

What is “it”?

Whatever your “it” is. Just freaking do it.

Enough with the crap. Enough with the “I don’t have time” and the “but it’s so expensive” and the “maybe in January” and just freaking do it.

What if it doesn’t work? What if it does?

What if I hurt myself? What if you improve yourself?

I don’t know what I’m doing. You will learn.

But it’s just too hard. Life is hard.

That baby weight, the flab under your arms, those tight jeans that await your annual autumn squeeze fest, the meds under your cabinet, the daily crash at your day job, the drag-yourself-out-of-bed mornings, and the struggles to go to the bathroom are begging for your attention. Not in January, but today. Today, because today, I’m in a unique mood. Because today can be your turning point.

Every single excuse you make is verbal (or subconscious) support for failure, typically due to fear, discomfort, or laziness.

No one has time. Everyone is too busy. Most people have kids. Everyone has hard times. No one truly wants to spend the money. Everyone wants to choose something else to do.

But the ones who succeed? They do it. They sack up, and they decide it’s worth a shot.

They just freaking do it.

So what’s it going to be? Are you going to dig deep and write those papers and memorize that literature because it’s going to make you a better person? Even if you don’t ace every assignment? Even if it’s miserable? Or are you going to give up and postpone the class… swap it out for something easier that won’t push you to your higher potential?

Do more. Be more. Set goals. Reach out for assistance. Focus. And for cripe’s sake, just freaking do it.
