The air is cooler, football is on the TV, and as my grandma would say, “It’s sweatshirt weather.” Which means it’s also the perfect time of year to have a backyard get-together, sans mosquitoes and sticky skin. Since I’m hosting a get-together for my Team of Coaches this weekend, I figured I’d share a couple of tasty items we plan to have at our outdoor gathering. Hope you enjoy.

Spicy Turkey Chili

Chili

* 1 lb. ground turkey (drained)

* 2 cans red kidney beans

* 1 can Italian stewed tomatoes (low-sodium)

* 1 package of Chili-O seasoning

* 4 oz. green chile peppers

* 1 can tomato sauce

* 1 onion

* 1 cup water

Cook ground turkey; drain. Add remaining ingredients and simmer on low 3 hours, stirring occasionally.

Grilled Banana S’Mores

Banana

* banana

* half of a dark chocolate bar, broken down the center (Might I recommend the So Delicious Dairy Free Dark Chocolate Almond?)

* graham crackers

Slice a banana down the middle and contain in aluminum foil. Place long line of chocolate squares down the middle. Enclose all in the foil, place on grill for 2 minutes to make gooey, then open foil and place graham crackers along the outside for dipping. Enjoy!

When you combine healthy versions of comfort foods and good friends, you can’t go wrong. Enjoy your outdoor autumn gatherings, friends!
