Day90

On October 20th, a group of people will take the first step in their health and fitness journey, and they won’t be doing it alone. They will be doing it with others who are on a similar journey, who are a little unsure, a little inexperienced, and whose start date has been a long time coming.

How exactly will they do this together?

Via the amazing social platform where nearly EVERYONE tends to spend at least a few minutes a day: Facebook.

But before I dive in to the specifics of the group, let me give you a little bit of my background. My story began in the spring of 2010, when my husband and I had been to my parents’ house to visit for a weekend and each hopped up on their bathroom scale. We didn’t own a scale, so this was the first time truly seeing and absorbing the fact that since we had married, we had gained a combined 65 pounds, around 30 pounds a piece.

Whoa.

At the time, we were both working the sedentary, corporate 9-5 life. We were chalking up our daily 15 minute run or 40 minute walk with the dog as our fitness, and obviously, it wasn’t getting us anywhere. At the same time, I found myself in chronic pain, dealing with daily migraines that simply wouldn’t go away. I saw headache specialists, neurologists, spinal specialists, pain specialists, physical therapists, chiropractors, massage therapists, and even started doing yoga. I was given hundreds of milligrams of anti-seizure pills and blood pressure medications, I underwent multiple 3-day ventures to a nearby hospital for anti-seizure IV infusions, I had a grand total of 4 neck surgeries with no relief, and I even experienced Botox for migraine, which really just feels like 1,000 bee stings all over the scalp. NONE of these things helped, and all of which were very painful. On the body and on the soul. 

So one day, I decided that instead of spending my days in the waiting rooms of various doctors’ offices, I should find a distraction. Something to challenge myself  and to take my mind off of the pain. At the time, I told my loved ones, “If I’m going to be in pain, I might as well get healthier from the neck down.”

For me, getting healthier started with P90X. My husband and I did it together, all 90 days, some days at 5:30a.m. and others at 10p.m. We did it, every day, drinking Shakeology after every workout. When I went to create a side-by-side image of my Before and After photos, I was in awe. Why?

There was one major difference: my emotions.

Journey

In the Before photo, I was depressed. Unhappy. Miserable. In severe pain. Unsure and insecure.

In the After photo, I was smiling. Happier. Confident in my own skin. 

Did Shakeology and P90X cure my headaches? No. But they provided me with the first step in taking my life back. It was MY “ON” switch to fitness, and the beginning of what would become a complete change in lifestyle, pain level, and eventually, day job.

Fast forward nearly 5 years, and I’m now a full-time Coach. After I found a life change with P90X and Shakeology, I decided to pay it forward, and since then, I have committed to becoming someone who meets people where they are, and helps them get to where they are going. I have a Team of Coaches who are doing this along with me. YOUR Coach may be the one who directed you to this blog post. Because it is the ONE that is meeting people where they are… insecure and low in confidence, unsure and overweight. It’s not intimidating. It’s not impossible. It’s 100% doable, and is absolutely calling your name.

This group will be privately held on Facebook, meaning that nobody knows you’re in the group except for others in the group. The intention of the group is to be held accountable EVERY DAY of your journey. To offer daily motivation, kitchen tips, meal planning ideas, and form/technique clarifications. As leader of the group, and as a Certified Personal Trainer and P90X Instructor, you will have 100% access to me for 90 straight days.
