Summer is here, and what better time to debut some “Fix-approved” cocktails than now?! Bring on the summer flavors, the pool, and all of the summer heat. This will be the best way to cool you down while jazzing you up, without a ton of calories.

1. Coconut Margarita

This one is a staple in my house, especially during warm weather months. Simply fill your glass with ice, combine 1 oz. of tequila with some squirts of fresh lime, and top off with a coconut sparkling water of your choice. My recommendation: Target’s Good & Gather brand Coconut Pineapple, or Fresh Thyme’s Coconut. LaCroix works, too. (1 Yellow)

2. Watermelon Margarita

Along the same lines, mix 1 oz. tequila in a glass full of ice with a squeeze of lime juice, watermelon Perrier, and a smashed slice of watermelon. (1 Yellow)

3. Rose Slushie

Pour 1 bottle rose into a shallow pan and freeze for 6 hours. (Note: It won’t actually freeze solid due to its alcohol content). Bring 1/2 cup water to boil in medium saucepan. Add 8-10 strawberries, 2/3 cup fresh raspberries, and 3 thyme sprigs. Remove from heat. Stir for 30-40 minutes. Strain through liquid strainer, pressing on berries to squeeze out the juice. Refrigerate while the rose freezes. Scrape frozen rose into blender and add berry liquid, 5 Tbsp. lemon juice, 1/4 tsp. liquid stevia (optional), and 1-2 cups crushed ice. Blend until it takes on a smoothie texture. Freeze again briefly before serving. Divide between 6 wine glasses, and serve with a spoon. (1 Yellow)

4. Savory Michelada Cocktail

Place 1 medium red bell pepper and 1 medium yellow bell pepper, along with 12 oz. fresh lime juice, in a large pitcher. Add 1/4 cup all-natural steak sauce, 1/2 tsp. black pepper, and a sprinkle of sea salt; mix well. Refrigerate 4 hours, or overnight. Pour into 8 highball glasses, and top slowly with 40 fl. oz of a lager beer (such as Pacifico). Mix gently. Garnish each with a lime wedge (optional). (1 Yellow)

5. FitVine Wine

In case you haven’t heard, FitVine and Dry Farm Wines both have cornered the market on health-conscious folks. Their wines have no added sugars, meaning you won’t get that nauseating, foggy feeling after drinking their wine. Favorites include their Pinot Noir (red) and Sauv Blanc (white). (1 moderate glass = 1 Yellow)

You can have an occasional cocktail this summer and still crush your goals, my friend. Moderation is always key! And I would beg to argue, ingredients matter. Cheers to a fun-filled, sun-filled summer for you and yours!
