In today’s episode, I’m diving into the topic of estrogen dominance. While it hits most women in perimenopause, for some women like myself, it can occur earlier in life. Whether it’s from oral contraceptive use, aging, or otherwise, it’s no fun! Estrogen dominance refers to the ratio between your estrogen and progesterone. Unfortunately, most doctors are only looking at these two sex hormones individually and comparing to normal ranges, when in reality, the ratio is what’s most important. When the gap between the two is too large, we start to see dominance signs: weight gain in the hips and thighs, headaches, irregular cycles, and more.
