My Top Finds at Trader Joe's
Ahh, Trader Joe’s. My home away from home. While it is a solid 25 minute drive from my house, I find myself there monthly, stocking up on all of our family favorites.
Don’t get me wrong: Not EVERY item at Trader Joe’s is super healthy. But they do have plenty of great healthy options. They key, as always, is to read the ingredient labels.
I get asked often what my favorite items are at TJ’s, so I thought what better way to address it than in a blog post. That way I can send this along to all of my friends who are destined for a Trader Joe’s shopping trip.
Let’s dive in, shall we?
- Pre-prepared vegetable selection — I love the fact that I can waltz my cart past the produce aisle and stock up on a bag of perfectly ripened avocados, Tango apples (a family fave), the Asian stir fry veggie mix, mirepoix for soups, and so much more already prepped and ready for me to toss into a meal.
- Uncured turkey bacon — I despise all turkey bacon except TJ’s. It’s the absolute best! Nice salty, smoky flavor and not super fake tasting. (Also worth mentioning is the turkey summer sausage, perfect for slicing up with crackers for a charcuterie board or holiday festivities).
- Sparkling Pineapple Green Tea — So yummy! Great in the summertime or anytime.
- Frozen burgers — Turkey burgers, grass-fed burgers, mahi mahi burgers, and salmon burgers are all delish! Huge fan.
- Mexican Cauliflower Rice — This combo incorporates cauli rice, jalapenos, peppers, and cumin for a delicious side dish or base of your taco bowl. We stock up on these puppies.
- Organic blue corn tortilla chips — We don’t consume any other tortilla chip. That should say something.
- Freeze-dried fruit for snacking — Our baby loves these, and so do we! Great for road trips or just an on-the-go purse snack.
- Brown rice/quinoa pastas — We prefer the spiral and spaghetti versions but their selection is amazing. It’s the only pasta we consume.
- Sparkling Sauv Blanc — If you’re a wine drinker, you’ll love these. So refreshing! (Their peach bellini bottles make for great entertaining options as well).
- Kale, cashew vegan pesto — Don’t knock it til you try it. Tastes like pesto and no dairy! So yum.
- Everything But the Bagel seasoning — Sprinkle this on your eggs in the morning and you’ll never go back to plain eggs.
- Meats — 100% grassfed beef, 93% lean ground turkey, ground chicken, and antibiotic-free chicken breasts. We buy almost all of our meat from TJ’s because of the quality and low prices.
Trust me, you can get lost wandering the short aisles of Trader Joe’s, and it’s well worth it. I’m the girl who always leaves with 2 carts and who harps on staff to offer Costco sized carts instead of their itty bitty ones. The good stuff you can find here is limitless; these are just a few of my favorite things. But this will most definitely get you started and in the door!
xoxo,
Jenny
