307 – SYNCPodcast_NewYear

[00:00:00] Jenny Swisher: Welcome friends to this episode of the Sync Your Life podcast and happy new year. It is 2025 and today is our first official podcast of the year after a glorious couple of weeks off spent with family and kids. My kids, oh my goodness, my house is a complete disaster as I send them back to school this week, but I’m excited.

[00:01:17] Jenny Swisher: I’m excited for this new year, excited to get kind of back in the saddle and back to the microphone with all of you. I know with a new year comes new goals when it comes to our health. And I’m getting ready to do two keynotes myself here in January, where I’ll be speaking on the topics of flourishing in your hormone health and also reversing diet culture.

[00:01:35] Jenny Swisher: And I think it’s the message that women truly need to hear. When we can go deeper in our health versus just simply exercising or the typical fads that are out there, we discover that health is individual. It’s highly individual. And that what I need might be different than what you need. It’s when we fall for a program that is sold in a box that’s meant to be for the masses.

[00:01:54] Jenny Swisher: that we wind up back where we started with little progress. So, as we kick off 2025, let me ask you, what is your number one health goal this year? I hope we’re past the whole number on the scale thing. I hope that your goal has to do with your energy, because after all, we measure everything in energy.

[00:02:12] Jenny Swisher: Oftentimes, we know where our efforts can be improved when it comes to the five fundamentals of hormone balance. Sleep, supplementation, nutrition, fitness, and managing our traumas. A lot of times we know what to do, but we simply don’t make it a priority. As I shared with my PeriRx community recently, focusing on one fundamental as we kick off the year and then layering it with another and another over the course of weeks can help you master them all in a way that serves you.

[00:02:38] Jenny Swisher: For me in 2021, my goal became prioritizing my sleep. That was the first thing I wanted to focus on. I invested in an Oura ring. I started biohacking my sleep with different sheets, room temperatures, clothing, and bedtime routines. I made sleep my number one focus, and it paid off, not only in my energy, which was the primary goal, but with my body composition as well.

[00:02:59] Jenny Swisher: Soon after, I layered on consuming enough protein. Once again, improvement in energy and in body composition, and slowly by slowly, I optimized my fundamentals one layer at a time. As we enter the era of new gym memberships and fad diets here at the New Year, I challenge you to keep it simple with these fundamentals.

[00:03:18] Jenny Swisher: I also ask you if you’ve made the investment in you to go deeper on your own hormone and metabolic health. Have you sought out the right type of functionally minded doctor? Have you taken one of my courses on hormone literacy to understand what to advocate for? Perhaps understanding the why and the science will help you to apply.

[00:03:35] Jenny Swisher: I’ve seen it hundreds of times with the women in my community. I’ll be sure to link up my courses, our resident hormone health doctor, and how to consult with her, our fitness program, and so much more in the show notes to make it easy for you. But my friend, New Year’s resolutions, as they’re called, don’t have to be complicated or overwhelming.

[00:03:51] Jenny Swisher: I would argue that that’s often why they fail. Keeping it simple is where the magic happens. So I thought I would make this simple for you as we look at these five fundamentals and what they could mean for you. Recently, a member of my community said, Hey Jenny, what are the main things that we need to apply?

[00:04:07] Jenny Swisher: And this was my answer to her. Number one, mastering your sleep. I already said it once, I’ll say it again. This times a thousand, my friend, especially if you’re in perimenopause, your body needs rest and recovery and a brain reboot. And without adequate quality sleep, our hormones don’t stand a chance.

[00:04:24] Jenny Swisher: Number two, going deeper on your bioindividual supplement needs, which may or may not include bioHRT. Working with the right practitioner to get answers to your hormone imbalances, which are unique to you. Having your thyroid reviewed on a deeper level, your vitamin levels, all these things matter, and most doctors aren’t doing optimal lens lab work.

[00:04:43] Jenny Swisher: They’re confirming you have a heartbeat, and they’re sending you out the door with a, hey, your labs are normal stamp of approval. Take the time to become hormone literate, to advocate for yourself, and to get the proper testing that you need. Number three, protein and fiber need to be your very best friends.

[00:05:00] Jenny Swisher: Forget a restrictive diet or a depletion of one macronutrient, and realize that with proper protein, one gram of protein per pound of ideal body weight, your amino acids become fulfilled, and therefore your cravings subside dramatically. Add in enough fiber, at least 25 grams per day, and watch your energy soar.

[00:05:18] Jenny Swisher: Now, this doesn’t mean to also include processed foods and crazy carbohydrates. It means to lead with protein and fiber, which most women aren’t doing, and it is life changing. Number four, train like a woman should. If you are still in your cycling, regular menstruating years, consider cycle syncing with my fitness program.

[00:05:36] Jenny Swisher: If you’re perimenopausal, well, we have an option for you too. And if you’re postmenopausal, yep, we got you covered. Focusing on strength training, four days per week, VO2 max through short burst interval trainings and mobility work is what we as women truly need. Gone are the days of calorie burning and crazy sweat after every workout and hello to strong.

[00:05:56] Jenny Swisher: This is what we need. Muscle is the key to longevity. Number five. Traumas. If this is an area that you’ve neglected for yourself, and let’s be honest, it’s often the last to be tackled, make this your year. Check out Sarah Gottfried’s book, The Autoimmune Cure, to see the tie ins to our health when it comes to trauma.

[00:06:14] Jenny Swisher: She does a fantastic job of connecting the actual hormone imbalance issues to childhood traumas. Perhaps this is the year that we invest in therapy, or doing the deeper dive on our mental wellness. The body keeps the score, and our stressors and traumas often come back in midlife through hormone imbalances.

[00:06:31] Jenny Swisher: Neglecting this area can be detrimental to achieving hormone balance. This is exactly where I would start, my friends. I would keep it simple with these fundamentals. Right here, very simple, very effective. I know the rage right now is peptides and fasting and all the things, but I’m here to say the science on women is very clear.

[00:06:50] Jenny Swisher: We need to eat enough food, especially protein, Sleep well, lift heavy shit, supplement what we uniquely need, and manage our traumas. This is the way. I hope maybe you needed this reminder today, my friends, as we kick off this new year. It’s said that most people won’t begin their New Year’s resolutions until after the Super Bowl.

[00:07:08] Jenny Swisher: Others will begin in January, usually the first of January, and quit by mid month. Going 0 to 60 is always hard, and focusing on all the things and overwhelming ourselves often leads us to a dead end. Simplify, simplify, simplify. Okay, friends. Finally, I want to make sure that I loop you into two big announcements that are game changing for women everywhere.

[00:07:28] Jenny Swisher: The first one is this. We are currently enrolling for our next round of PERI RX, which is an eight week program that I co created with our registered dietitian and hormone health doctor, which includes eight weeks of perimenopause fitness, nutrition, and guidance from our doctor on how to navigate this area of life with your own doctor.

[00:07:45] Jenny Swisher: Sales will close for this before January 10th, so be sure to get in before then and I’ll link it up for you of course in the show notes. And secondly, I am very excited for this one. We are merging all of our technology over at Jenny Swisher, LLC, so that all of my hormone health education, fitness programs, everything will live in one place with our amazing community.

[00:08:05] Jenny Swisher: We are utilizing mighty networks for this and I’m so excited for how seamless of an experience this is going to be. As always, purchase of any of my courses comes with lifetime access But now that the community and workouts are included and all in one place, this levels up the value. Oh so much. And I am so, so excited friends.

[00:08:22] Jenny Swisher: I’m so grateful for you for another new year for a chance to serve the woman at every hormonal transition through this podcast and educational tools. I truly believe that it’s my life’s calling to share my own struggle and what I’ve learned in order to help others. Not a week goes by that I don’t get a thank you message from people claiming this knowledge has changed their lives.

[00:08:40] Jenny Swisher: And it’s exactly what keeps me going. So as we embark on a new year here on the podcast, thank you for listening. Thank you for coming alongside me. Let’s keep going as we dive even deeper in 2025 until next time we’ll talk soon and happy new year.
