Have you Heard of The Master’s Hammer and Chisel???

The word is out: The Master’s Hammer and Chisel is officially on the market and ready to increase the fitness game of thousands. If you haven’t heard of it, know this: It’s about to revolutionize at-home fitness on a whole new level.

Let’s talk about both what it is and what you need to know to get started on crushing your goals with the program.

Each and every workout in The Master’s Hammer and Chisel is based on the science of SSP (Strength Stabilization and Power). Therefore, every move is intended to help you master balance, explosive motion, and strength by way of resistance. You’ll use weights, a bench (or stability ball, but more on that later), and an exercise mat every day to capitalize on strength gains and an overall total body shred. The Master’s Hammer and Chisel will be the most up-to-date, proven method of achieving total body chisel in under 40 minutes a day.

Who is The Master’s Hammer and Chisel Intended For?

So who is this program intended for? Per the creators, Autumn Calabrese (creator of 21 Day Fix and figure competitor) and Sagi Kalev (creator of Body Beast and world-renowned bodybuilder), if you have an intermediate level of fitness, you’re likely ready to start your journey with MHC. If you have completed any of the following programs, you’re ready to rock:

Each of the above listed programs are beyond entry level, yet don’t fully capitalize on the movements of your body at the utmost level, which is why The Master’s Hammer and Chisel was created.

The Master’s Hammer and Chisel Equipment

What equipment do you need? Great question. Given that this is an at-home workout program, have no fear… You do NOT have to have crazy amounts of space to rock this program! Here is the equipment list (based on my opinion, as a Certified Personal Trainer) and brands I recommend:

A Weight Bench

Truth is, if you’re interested in this program, then I know you are at a level of fitness that means you’re ready for a weight bench. You’ve likely done nearly every floor exercise and push-up known to man, so embrace it: You need a weight bench.

The one I own is a PowerBlock bench, which has adjustable settings to various angles and the base support that will allow you to jump on and off the bench (ohhhh yeah, we’re doing that). It’s relatively compact, can fold up and be stored easily, and looks sleek. I highly recommend it.

Know this: There IS a modifier in the workouts who uses a stability ball rather than bench. While this may seem like both a cost and space saver, you should know that it will likely make certain moves much harder. A stability ball is intended to put your balance to the test, and simply won’t allow you to do some of those plyometric bench moves. If you’re going for The Master’s Hammer and Chisel, go for the bench.

Gloves

We’re going to essentially be lifting heavy things and setting them back down. Doing that repetitively, day in and day out, will take a toll on our hands. Most individuals in the test group suggest using workout gloves to limit the blisters and stress on the hands, which will allow you to grip and control your free weights much easier.

I recommend C9 brand by Target or Nike (available at Dick’s Sporting Goods).

Free Weights

Yep, you’re gonna need ‘em! We’ll be using free weights to strengthen EVERY muscle in the body, so you need a set you can use at home. My two cents: Rather than purchase a multitude of dumbbells, consider going for the PowerBlock sets, which range from 2 to 60 lbs. Not only do they give you every imaginable interval to work with, they are super space-saving, easy to clean (just one grip handle on each), and perfect for this program’s style of weight training.

Exercise Mat

This truly depends on the floor on which you’ll be exercising. If you’re exercising on hardwood, laminate, or vinyl flooring, you may want to consider an exercise mat for jumping style exercises and instances where you’ll be on the ground. If you’re like me and work out on carpet, you should be fine without one…. It’s simply a matter of preference.

Just a simple Gaiam mat or the Plyo Mat from Team Beachbody are great fits.

Medicine Ball

If you go for the Deluxe Kit (which gets you an extra set of containers, 4 additional workouts, and a med ball), you will receive that med ball as an inclusion. In my opinion, this is the way to go with an extreme program like MHC, and the med ball is the ultimate way to shred the core.
